Small Object Large Subject

CDs used to be common thing that everyone used to play their music. Records came before that and so on. CDs were a very recent thing and now instead of listening to music through CDs people are listening to music through Ipods using Itunes to get their music or even worse illegally downloading their music. Ipods are very common these days and there are so many kinds of Ipods. You have the smallest one called the Shuffle, the Nano, and the Ipod touch. It seems like every few months Apple makes a new Ipod or a new device that everyone must have. With your Ipod comes Itunes. Itunes is a huge music library where you can buy singles or CDs on your computer and have it sync strait to your Ipod. It is very convienient although some people choose to also illegally download their music as well.

People these days do not want to spend their money on music and when they do they buy single songs on Itunes instead of buying the whole CD. This is a problem not just for our society but also for the music industry as well. A single song on Itunes costs $1.29 cents. This is not a lot of money. Apple has to pay copyright fees to the industry and give some of their profits to them. $1.29 cents is not going to help the music industry very much because all people do is buy singles instead of CDs. A CD goes for around $12 now. you get all the songs on a CD and you end up paying less money than if you were to buy a bunch of singles. the problem with people today is that when they hear a single on the radio they only want to have that one song and they do not thin about whether they would like the other songs on the album. An example of a great album is Speak Now by Taylor Swift. She has some singles on the radio and people buy them and not the whole CD when the whole CD has other great songs. For me I tend to look at all of the songs that are on the CD rather than just buying  bunch of singles.

My father in in the music industry and everyday he tells me about how the industry is going down because people are not buying CDs anymore and are either buying singles or are illegally downloading their music for free. When this happens the industry does not make any money and it is hard for the record companies to make money.  it almost seems like people do not care about the music industry and why they are paying for their music. It is a cycle that keeps going and if people continue to get their music this way the music industry could ultimately fail. What people also do not realize is that if they buy CDs they can upload them to Itunes and put them on their Ipods. I do this all the time. My dad has a huge cabinet filled with CDs that I always rummage through and find great music. When you buy singles, you are missing our on all the other great music that is in the CDs. Some of those other songs end up becoming my favorite songs. I think that people should go back to buying CDs and find out what they are missing. Itunes and using Ipods are great but there is so much more to music than the everlasting new electronics.

People assume that they are not doing anything wrong when they are downloading their music and just buying what is popular. Popularity and conforming to what everyone likes is part of our socirty today. What I am saying is that people shoudl step outside of the box. Buy CDs again and fall in love with the other tracks on them. They could become your new favorites and want to buy more from that artist. Itunes is a great thing but it isnt the only way to listen to music and to get the music that you want.

Liberty Walk

‎"Here's to all the ones
Tryin to hold ya back
Tryin to make ya feel like your less than that
Givin nothin mo' better than to make ya crack
But really just tryin to put your dreams off-track
And you know in the end it'll be okay
Cause all that really matters are the steps ya take
And everything else falls into place
There's no price to pay
I say

Sayin goodbye to the people who tied you up
It's a liberty walk, walk
Feelin your heart again
Breathin new oxygen
It's a liberty walk, walk!
Free yourself
Slam the door!
Not a prisoner anymore!

Don't be afraid to make a move
It won't hurt you
Just do what you were born to do
And everything works out right
Don't listen to all the people who hate
Cause all they do is help
Make your mistakes for ya
But they don't own ya
I just told ya" - Miley Cyrus ( yah i know its a song of hers but it is powerful)

Poor Hero

Poor Hero. She was accused of cheating on Claudio when it was all a set up by Don John to ruin her marriage.  Claudio irrationally screamed and accused her of cheating during the ceremony. I guess no one at that time ever talked about something instead of going full on crazy. If they had talked about the cituation first Claudio would have known that it was all a trick and that it was not true. He wouldnt let her speak and he only believed what he saw. It makes sense though because he believes things with his eyes and learns with his eyes. He is a visual person. He fell in love with Hero with his eyes and also out of love with his eyes. I am happy that it worked out in the end though because if it hadnt then well the play just wouldnt have been very good. Claudio should think about what he sees instead of being irrational.  All the guys in the play should think more. Do they not have any brains? I guess Shakespeare didnt give them any. Guys could be so irrational.

Much ado about nothing

Much Ado ABout Nothing - Consider the tittle

The tittle implies that the people in the book will make a big deal about nothing. They will over exaggerate and make something very small into a big ordeal. The fact that noting is how you pronounce nothing in old english it is as if someone is always waking note of something and making it into a problem.

l.i.121

What is she saying? What does she mean when Beatrice says.... "I had rather hear my dog bark at a crow than a man swears he loves me." l.i.121

Beatrice is saying that she would rather hear something very irritating than hear a man say that he loves her.  She does not think that love is important and she does not trust men. She thinks that love is untrue and that there is no point to being in love.

Shakspeare - Post #5

Q: "My Mistress Eyes are Nothing Like the Sun" Sonnet 130. Compare Collins "Littany" with the rhetorical argumentative moves of Shakespeare's sonnet 130

A: They both compare their beloved ones to various things and both say how they really feel. Even though they are supposed to say their loved ones look radiant and shine like the sun , they tell the truth and take back their compliments and say that they rely do not look like that. In Collins piece he does not take back oe compliment but in Shakespeare's sonnet he takes back everything.

Billy Collins - post #4

Q: In "Litany" Billy Collins plays with diction ( word choice) how does his reading and performance of this language impact him?

A: When he first talks his voice and the way he talks is boring but when he begins to read the poem he starts to read it with conviction and brings it to life. He changes the language of the poem and updates it and makes it better. He changes the poem to make it funny. He compares a woman to something beautiful and then takes it back. I find that very funny.

Emily Dickinson - Post # 3

Q: How is Emily Dickinson's poem fresh?

A: Her poem is fresh because when you read it out loud you read it with conviction. It is not flashy but makes a point and makes you listen to the point. She makes her point subtle but you understand what she is trying to say quickly.

Shihan - Post #2

Q: How much "Flash" does Shihan imply in his poem?

A: Throughout the whole poem he flashes words at us making certain words more prominent and he talks really fast. He tells us that words represent us and teach us things, that words are important to voice out thoughts and opinions and that we should use our voice. He says that we do not have to use flashy words but that we should say how we feel

Taylor post #1

Q: What do you receive hearing the poet speak and reading the text?

A: He was making fun of our generation by talking loudly and slowly as if we could not understand him. He stated that our generation does not articulate  how we feel and say what we mean and that we end every sentence with a question as if we are not sure as to what we are saying.  When you see his poetry in writing it makes it more powerful and the letters are jumbled up to make his point more clear that we jumble what we are saying and do not say things the right way. He wants to make it clear that we should say how we feel and how we want to say it. To not be afraid to say things and make it seem like we are asking a question when we are not.

Ink Shedding - Wesch

The machine is not using us we are using the machine. We are telling the machine what to do and what ideas the computer should share with us. We program the computers to do what we want them to do. Computers cannot think for themselves, it is up to us to make the computers think.

We made computers, computers have features that help us when times change. there used to be basic calculators that calculated simple equations, now we have scientific calculators that help us with tough problems.

computers remember the sites we viewed, the information we researched, the music we listened to , and the videos we watched. We rely on the computers to help us with our everyday lives. It makes our lives easier. Some argue that it affects our thinking and writing skills because we only read what we want.

Let's be honest, while the computer may be allowing us to read faster, we are not going to read online anymore than we would in real life.

Michael Wesch Blog

Q: What is Michael Wesch arguing about the nature of reading, writing, and the thinking in web 2.0, digital world? Is the machine using us? Is it a bad thing?

A: Michael Wesch is arguing that text is changing and that we are now using digital text instead of reading out of a book. There are new easy ways to upload and read information on the internet.Text is now at our finger tips making it easier to look up information on any subject. The web 2.0 is a digital workd that links people together and is a new form of communication. It is a new way of living and doing things faster. He argues that the machine isn't using us that we are using the machine. Many think that the new technology is taking over but we are the ones who are telling the machine what to do. We give computers demands to look something up or to contact a friend online. It is not what the technology is doing to us, it is what we are doing to the technology and how we are using it. The internet is a good thing that makes different tasks easier. It is a new way of life that is here to stay.

Materialities of Writing

Writing with crayon was very hard and made the assignment seem even harder. I kinda felt restricted when i wrote in crayon because I write very big and felt like I didnt have enough room to write all of my thoughts down.
On the page that was numbered 11, I gave that person the adjective of informative. On this person's page they didnt just describe the poem but also informed us how to read he poem to get more insight out of it. The person said that we have to read the poem more than once to actually grasp what Emily Dickinson was saying and that there is more that meets the eye.
If we lived in a world where we only wrote in crayon we would have to think a lot more about what we want to write instead of just writing freely. It would allow people to be more creative but at the same time they would need to plan out what they would want to write because it is so hard to write in crayon.
I think that we should write with markers next. i love being colorful with markers and i know I will be able to write more of what I want.

Inventing Jill M

In the Pantene commercial there is a part where a butterfly comes out of a caccoon for the first time. many can argue that it is a random picture that was put into the commercial, that there is no reason to have the butterfly in the commercial. Well a butterfly coming out of a caccoon is Pantene's trademark.

I believe that there is more reasoning behind the use of the butterfly in the commercial other than having it in there because it is their trademark. When a butterfly is coming out of a cacoon it  shows growth and experiences. Coming out of a cacoon is showing how much you have grown and what you are meant to become a beautiful creature who is care free. In the commercial the deaf girl does the same by going on stage and performing. he overcomes the bullying and the teasing and shows people who she wants to be and that no one will stop her. The character grows throughout the commercial and shows her ability to play the violin and show her true colors at the end. In a way she is like the butterfly. With nice hair of course
